Welcome!
Keep
Stockwell Beautiful began as the Stockwell Beautification Project
in the spring of 2005. A group of community individuals with various
backgrounds and interest formed the Board of Directors. This group
has common interests of decreasing waste in our area and increasing
the natural beauty of our town.
Through
funding from the John and Ruby Parks Foundation, seed money enabled
the organization to establish clean-up projects for the town. The success
of “Tox Away Day, Bulky Trash Days” and recycling has netted
over 648,000 pounds of trash from our community.
The
group began pursuing recycling possibilities for the Lauramie Township
area with the assistance of the Wildcat Solid Waste District and the
County Commissioners. In March of 2006, the first recycling station
in our area was opened. Residents continue to use this valuable resource
free of cost.
In
May of 2007, Keep Stockwell Beautiful became the smallest Affiliate
of the Keep America Beautiful Organization in the world. The organization
has over 600 Affiliates and Stockwell is the fourth in the state of
Indiana. Several hours of hard work and dedication have been donated
to accomplish this goal.
The
project became a 501c3 non-profit organization in 2008. Our Board Of
Directors is made up of volunteers and we operate on a strictly volunteer
basis. If you would like to assist with any aspect of our organizations
please send an email to krisksb@gmail.com.
